Reading Instructional Program for BTCS Students:
Our teachers instruct students primarily using a reading curriculum published by BJU Press which includes phonics, spelling, grammar, and literature. The curriculum encourages students to actively engage with the text, going beyond simply seeing the words on the page. The curriculum, in-class, and in-house libraries all aim to nurture a love of reading and equip students with the skills to analyze, interpret, and evaluate literature from a biblical worldview. Data from assessments like MAP Growth, IREAD, ILEARN, and WIDA all help identify students who are struggling. Intervention is then offered to those students. Our Reading Leadership team is headed by Ann Newton, principal.

Mrs. Jennifer Kennerk, B.S., Exercise Science, encourages students with relays, games, calisthenics, warm ups, team building, and more, all the while gearing children towards a more healthy lifestyle with exercise by following the Indiana academic standards for physical education.
