As part of our participation in the Indiana Choice Scholarships program, ILEARN is the required end-of-the-school-year test students take beginning in third grade.
The Indiana Department of Education will use the ILEARN scores to calculate our school's accountability grade. Also, staff and teachers at BTCS look at the results for signs of student growth and to identify weaknesses for improvement efforts.
As part of our participation in the Indiana Choice Scholarships school program, IREAD-3 is a required annual test the students take in third grade to measure reading proficiency.
A passing score on IREAD-3 shows that a student is ready to move from "learning to read" to "reading to learn." If a student does not pass, BTCS will provide extra reading instruction and re-test the student.
The Iowa Assessments are given primarily to kindergarten students in the spring to measure their academic progress and allow parents and teachers to examine that growth against a national standard. The Cog At test assesses quantitative, nonverbal, and verbal abilities for use in measuring students' relative academic weaknesses and strengths. This test is given in kindergarten and also second grade.
Staff and teachers at BTCS look at the results to measure student growth and curriculum effectiveness.
NWEA MAP Growth (Measure of Academic Progress) is a computer-adaptive test which helps teachers and parents improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth.
Students in grades one through six take these tests periodically throughout the year.
